Leo is not a happy camper the last couple days. You see, his mean mom took him to vet and left him there. While he was there, he got sleepy and when he woke up, his boy parts were gone. Ooooo, those evil humans.

Now, we know Leo does not like change. It never goes over well, ever. So, we wanted to try to avoid any kind of e-collar because we knew it wouldn't go over well. We lasted 1 day before Leo was trying to lick his incision. So the collar went on. In an effort to make this as painless as possible, we bought an inflatable collar instead of making him wear the traditional cone contraption (we were pretty sure that would result in broken things and a very traumatized Leo).

Leo is NOT amused with his new headwear

Poor guy could not figure out how to lay down or get comfortable with the collar on.

"Maybe if I sit on mom I'll feel better."

Mom has a great view . . . not

Finally I took pity on Leo and sat on the floor. He snuggled in (in hopes I would save him from the evil collar) and then figured out how to use it as a pillow and fell asleep.

But then we repeated the same problem this morning. The only way he could get comfortable was to lay on top of me. And Rocky didn't want to be left out. (Don't mind me, I had just gotten out of the shower and was trying to get the rest of my coffee in me)

For now Leo is napping on the floor without the inflatable collar. Some outside time with the Mr helped tire him out. And I am hoping he understand my rule that if he leaves his incision alone and stay in a room with a human, he can have it off. But if he wants to roam the house or bugs his incision, it goes back on. Wish us all luck, it is going to be a tough couple days.

Dock Jumping wrapup

I am a few days late with the wrap up, but things got even busier after the weekend. Rocky went into Sunday being 4th in the Senior division. The top 5 dogs make the finals later in the day. Rocky gave it his all, but there were 2 other dogs that jumped a smidge bigger than him and dropped him down to 6th. He might have jumped a bit better, but there were some handler errors. The Mr and I were a bit rusty from 3 months off, but not Rocky. We are incredibly proud of Rocketmonster! His best jump of the weekend was 19'6", that is only 1 foot less than his personal best he set in September. Not bad for a dog who has had a pretty lazy winter due to cold and ice.

This is the only picture we got. Look at that smile and the intensity!

Jumping - Day 2

I'll post a wrap-up once the weekend is over, but just wanted to give a quick update. Rocky was jumping good today too. His best jump was 19'6". As of right now, that puts us 4th in his division. But there is 1 more round of jumping before finals.

Dock jumping has started for 2010

The first event for 2010 has begun. This cracks the Mr and I up. But it never lasts long enough for us to get it on video. I finally did. And the licking he does at the end, that is because he pulls so hard, he pulls hair out of his tail. Silly, silly Leo.

Leo versus his tail video

Fun snow day

We finally got some big snowfall here in the great white north. This is the biggest snow we have had this winter and we ended up with about 8 inches. Needless to say the boys were ready to go play.

Leo couldn't wait for us to get a lot of snow, so he started yesterday when we only had an inch or so.

"Um, do I have something on my face?"

Boy, was Leo excited this morning to see that the couple inches we had when we went to bed had multiplied to lots and lots of snow. The Mr and I went outside to clean off his car to head to work and Leo did not want to come back in. So, he camped out on the deck to survey his snowy domain.

King of the mountain

(sorry it is dark, the sun wasn't up yet)

"Hey, what's in here?"

This is Leo after 2 hours outside supervising me shoveling and snow blowing.

The boys were so tired, they put themselves in their crates and napped for at least an hour. Now that is unheard of!

And then in an effort to redeem myself to all of you, I took the boys out to play again to get some action shots to share. You see it is hard to take pictures while I am shoveling.

Rocky chasing the Frisbee

(sorry he is blurry, he was fast today)

"Mom, throw my Frisbee! Leo was not happy about his new friends being gone and was being a general pain. Poor Mr, he isn't used to Leo behaving like this. I, however, get this Leo at least once a week. Although it doesn't usually last as long as it did Tuesday. But I think that is because the Mr and I were both home and Leo was hoping to convince one human to bend to his will. So, in an effort to calm the Leo monster, I was showing the Mr how I sit on the floor and Leo lays with me and I rub his head and ears (I think it helps quiet all the voices in his head). The Mr was laughing at the faces Leo was making.

"Oh, mom is rubbing head."

"It feels sooooooo good!"

We are back

We are back and blogging. We (ok, me) had some camera issues. I ended up needing to buy a new point and shoot camera. The Mr has a fancy SLR, but I prefer the ease and size of a point and shoot to catch all the great Team Rocketdog moments. Then add in a visit from our niece and nephew and things have been a bit crazy around here. Like this -

Leo says, "Um, where is my crate? It belongs right here."

When Leo is quiet

you should always go check on him. He isn't necessarily getting into trouble, but he could be waiting for just the right moment. So, Leo had been a bit too quiet for a bit too long this morning and I went to check on him. He wasn't getting in trouble, but he certainly was in an interesting predicament.

Leo says, "I'm not up to anything!"

"Just looking for kibble and treats that I may have flung out of my Kong earlier."

"Anything behind here?"

"Maybe around the corner?"

"Why are you laughing at me? Well, we actually waited a few days later, but they didn't know. Christmas always lasts a few days at our house in order to see all the family. Here are some pictures of Leo and the Christmas Moose.

First, he must smell the moose

Then, he must taste the moose.

And not to be left out, here is a video of Rocky and the Christmas Monkey.

Silly, silly Leo

You aren't supposed to try to fit the crate sideways . . . .

<img style="width: 650px; We had had a few dustings before that, but now there was a couple inches to play in. That idea had Leo all excited. What he failed to realize was that with this great gift of snow came some absolutely frigid temperatures and a bitter wind (we are talking about wind chills well below zero). It was the kind of cold and wind we get in the middle of the winter here in the great white north, not December. But that didn't matter to Leo, it was snow!

"Mom, what is taking so long?"(this was the look I got as I was adding layers of clothes, boots and enough cold-weather gear to cover every part of me.)

Rocky helping me get dressed - yes he was that close the whole time.

Leo says, "Are you finally ready?"

And they wrestle!

Leo likes to roll in the snow

Still rolling

How Leo liked to spend his afternoon

And like this - Leo says, "I don't know why you were so cold mom?"

It is a rough life

It is a rough life for my boys. The dogs napping one the couch, me on my laptop. And then Leo hops off the couch to pick up a ball off the floor. This alone is already out of his character, then he takes the ball off to the other room, where I hear him flopping around playing in a crate. Leo is not really fond of his crate (or Rocky's or any crate really). So, I figure he is up to no good. I get up to go check on him and this is what I find.

"Why do you think I am up to something, ma? I am just playing."

This is an example of the things that can happen when Leo is crated. Now in the past, I had left things in his crate to comfort/soothe him. Then I realized that mistake. Believe it or not, this pillow was on top of his crate and I just forgot to move it when I put him in.

Rocky and Leo had a friend over

Rocky and Leo had a visitor over yesterday.
