Yummy homemade dog treats

Or how to get the boys full, undivided attention for hours.

I found a venison roast in our deep freeze while I was cleaning it out. Actually I found 2. Since I can't remember how long they have been there, I wasn't excited about eating them. I did think that they would make excellent treats for the dogs. But who wants a bunch of raw meat hanging around in the fridge? So, I decided to try my hand at dehydrating the meat in oven. I thawed out one of the roasts and cut the meat away from the bone. I put the pieces in the freezer for about 30 minutes to firm up the meat before I cut it into slices. I took some of the thicker, bigger slices and cut them in to smaller pieces. I turned the oven on low and 4 hours later I had venison jerky for the pups. Now I will warn you if you try this at home, your whole house will smell like warm venison for a couple hours. But I can the dogs attention any time I want it. I had 2 very attentive dogs 'helping' me while I was taking the picture.
