Leo the Great Protector

So, this morning Leo proved to me that he is a great protector of his momma. I was the first one up and on the mornings that I rise and shine at 4 am, the dogs may get up with me,but no breakfast for them. Leo's routine is to get up with me and lay in the hallway outside the bathroom door and nap I mean supervise and protect me while I get ready for work. Sometimes Rocky gets up, sometimes he just takes my warm spot in bed. This morning they both got up with me. For reasons that work out in his head, Rocky laid in the hallway outside the bathroom door. This forced Leo to find a new spot to lay. Poor Leo, he doesn't like change and doesn't like thinking that early in the morning. So, he settles in the doorway of the bedroom (right behind Rocky) to supervise. Then I hear him pawing around. I check and see he has 2 toys right there and just figure he is trying to use big foot to move the toy closer. This goes on a bit too long, so I go check and find him standing up with his nose pointing something on the carpet. I return to the bathroom to don my glasses and investigate. Now Leo is behind the door and intent on whatever he has found. I scoot him back and find . . . .  eeewwwww . . . . a centipede-like bug. Seriously, it was 2 inches long with long legs, lots of them. So, gross!!!! What to do? What to do? Can't let the dog eat it - don't want to touch it. Ack! Back the bathroom, I grab some toilet paper and go save the bug from Leo . . .  and flush him down the toilet. That was followed by the Eeeewww Creepy Bug dance.

But we all think disaster is averted, right? Nope, now Leo is on alert to find other creepy crawlies and save his momma from those. Just a little note Leo - dust bunnies and windmills from the trees are not a threat to me.

But now Leo has a reason to get up in the very early mornings. I have proven I need his great protector skills to keep me safe.
