Dock Jumping on a Saturday (Rocky's story)
Saturday we loaded up the dogs and their stuff and headed out for a 2 1/2 hour drive to take the Rocketmonster to a dock jumping event. We were just going for the day because his humans had stuff they had to do on Sunday. Yes, we drove a total of about 5 hours to let Rocky go dock jumping and do a total of 4 competition jumps (and about 12 jumps total). But this the last event we know we will make it to until May. Plus a tired dog is always a good dog.
The day was full of adventure and stories right from the beginning. My friend was going too and we decided to all ride together, which seems rather harmless. But that puts 3 humans, 4 dogs (weighing between 50 and 75lbs a piece) and all their stuff in our Suburban. We all fit and once the dogs settled down we totally could have fit another dog, but it took a while to reach that point. So, at 6am, we are loading dog stuff, dogs and people in to head out on the road. After about 30 minutes Leo stopped licking her dog and the dogs (and my friend) all settled in for a nap.
We were making the trip because this is the event that Rocky set his personal best jump of 18'10" last year. And we were hoping to do well again. But it wasn't meant to be. The set-up was different and none of the dogs were jumping big like last year. Rocky jumped 15'8" for his first 2 jumps. After a break and consultation with the Mr about form and throws, Team Rocketdog made some adjustments and got a 16'5" jump and a 17'8". Those jumps are much more 'normal' for us.
So after a fun day, we load everyone back up and head home.
There are more stories about Saturday (one involves waders and the other the Mr) and pictures too. They will come soon.

So typically Rocky, Leo and J & K family. Glad you had fun and thanks for sharing.
